Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were filled with excitement after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved infrastructure projects in the newly established Maitama 2 District. The estimated cost of these projects is over N180 billion naira. The approval came after the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, along with the management of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), presented a proposal to the FEC.
Both the allottees and the original inhabitants of neighboring villages had been eagerly anticipating infrastructure development in the new district. The construction in Maitama 2 is particularly significant as it will improve the quality of life for the Mpape community and its surroundings. Additionally, it will create access roads for rural farmers in the area.
Dantata and Sawoe Company has been awarded the contract for the project, which is expected to be completed within a four-year timeframe. The Bureau of Public Procurement has given its approval for the project to proceed, as indicated in the document titled “Brief on the Final Engineering Design and Development of Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja.” The document further states that the procurement process will employ the Restrictive/Selective tendering method, and Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company Nigeria Limited has been recommended as the lowest responsive bidder with a total tender sum of N180,990,976,836.60, including 5% VAT, for a completion period of 48 months.
